Traunreut
started as a Second World War
ammunition depot whose buildings were emptied and re-used as housing by
refugees. In a short period of time, the old stores were rebuilt and
new
housing created; in 1949, the electrics firm Siemens built a factory at
the
edge of the new settlement. When Traunreut
built its town hall a quote
by a well – known writer was used in the
fresco that Sperl created. It said "If there is a belief that can move
mountains, it is the belief in ones own power." The Church and
Christian Party
objected. The fresco has since been removed.
